Switching Focus

by erin on August 6, 2016

This is a hard post to write.  It’s kind of the equivalent of “we need to talk.”

We need to talk.

Since starting school, it’s been an adventure, making all the pieces of my life fit.  School, work, studying, kids (they are a big, loud chunk, and I love that about them), outside commitments, and knitting (and I love knitting–boy do y’all know just how much I love knitting?!?).  As I’ve gone forward, other interesting things have been happening.  One of which was…well.

I mentioned in previous posts that I was moving.  What I did not mention was that I moved into a separate residence, away from my husband.  The kids are adjusting, and this transition was definitely a game changer when it came to my knitting time, and especially blogging about it.

I want to take a minute and say that Mary is a special person, because she approached me more than FIVE YEARS AGO (whoa–found my first blog post here) because she thought my Facebook posts were funny.  Who would have thunk that Facebook would lead to such a cool job?  She is special because she has always been someone to reach out to other crafty people in the community and encourage them to run with it.  She has never been anything other than in my corner the whole time I blogged for her stores.  We have had a fun run of it, like the time that I steeked for the first time (and so far that’s the ONLY time), or when I actually finished three projects in one week, or when I showed y’all my stash for a really cool cause when we contributed enough yarn to weigh as much as a full grown male polar bear.  My personal favorite is when this amazing, once-in-a-lifetime event occurred.  And Mary has been there, encouraging me through all of it.  She is also encouraging me still to pursue my priorities, even though they cut down on my knitting time.  I will forever be grateful to her for all her support through this wild ride.

I’m still a knitter, I’m still passionate about knitting, but my progress is terribly slow, too slow to keep the readers of this blog entertained on a weekly basis.  So things are going to change.  More transitions!  But change is a good thing!  It brings about good energy, fresh eyes, new perspectives, all that jazz–I can’t wait to swing by the blog to read all about it!  See you in the comments section!

Erin, I have really enjoyed your posts! They have inspired me and they have entertained me; they help remind me why I enjoy knitting and how special the friends I have made through knitting are. I am very, very sorry to hear about the change in your marital status. No matter what the cause or the reason, I am always saddened to hear of the dissolution of a marriage.

I do hope you will be able to continue to blog, albeit infrequently. Thank you for all your words of wisdom and your encouragement!
