Not So Good At Selfies

by erin on August 26, 2014

Hey everybody.  I’m still here.  I survived summer 2014!  How about you?  School started yesterday and so far (knock on wood) it’s been a good re-entry for half of the chaos squad that resides here.  The other half of the chaos squad will be going to pre-school (holla!) starting next week.  I cannot fathom WHAT on this blessed Earth I will do when that happens.  Whatever it is, knitting is going to have to figure into it prominently.  This summer I think I knitted at the speed of smell.  At least I have something to show for it…even if it did take a few eons to put it together (mostly).

Here is my Malabrigo sweater.  Yes, it’s not fully finished.  I am toying with adding a hood to this thing.  Here, take a look:

Firstly, I feel like the world’s biggest dork because I cannot figure out how to take a selfie.  Secondly, I’m trying my darndest to get a decent shot of the sweater where I don’t look like Bill the Cat.  It’s a pretty straightforward sweater, and I really love it.  The wool is so soft that I’m only wearing a tank top underneath (malabrigo is sooooo yummy).  So, with the hood, I think a sweater hood like this or this might be nice.  Some sort of slouchy, casual hood might be cool (ha–is a hood ever NOT casual?  Are there formal hoods?).  Maybe not.  It has this really chill, open neckline that feels like the knitwear on The Matrix, except,  you know, actually cheerful and not plugged into machinery.  What do you all think?  To hood or not to hood?  That is the question!

Here’s another project that is pretty much finished (minus some weaving in of ends and a bit of blocking).

This is Capture, knit up in MadelineTosh sock yarn in Begonia Leaf.  I made some modifications and cast on way more stitches than the pattern called for.  I used a different sized needle than the pattern called for.  Also, I used every gorgeous inch of the purply yarn and finished off with MadTosh in Leaf.  I love the pop of color.

Yet another selfie.  After trying to smile “naturally” for many attempted selfies, I feel like I look like someone off-camera has me at gunpoint and is threatening to shoot if I don’t put my pearly whites on display.  “Smile, or the wool gets it!”

On another note, more classes are up on the website!

I look forward to some dedicated knitting time in the coming weeks.  Heck, I might even get started on my holiday knitting!  What’s on your needles?  Do you think I should knit a hood?  Leave a comment and let me know what’s up with you all!

Hood it! And I love the eggplant, but the color is prettier than eggplant, so I should call it eggplant sunrise.

…The selfies are pretty hot. btw

Oh…. I love the scarf pattern!… do share!
Or maybe I’ll have to hogg-tie Mary and ask her to show me.
The color, the pattern – YEA! Good one!
